Wow, your kids are real intellectuals as most American kids don't know what Vichy France was! "Dismantling oversight" of every institution is a pure move of a dictator. One thing the French did get right that we should remember from our own history, they had Revolution.
I have had it with the democratic party. They won't get another nickel from me. I will only support candidates who understand what we are facing and who have a back bone.
The party is addicted to corporate money. Until a year ago that included the tech bros. Ken Martin, after he was elected chair, said the party would only take money from good billionaires. Today's good billionaires, if there even is such a thing, might be bad next year. He just does not get it.
The problem is that the fat cats own both parties. Their number one priority is get get richer at the expense of working stiff. Up until a few years they at least played lip service to the working class. Now the curtain has been lifted and all that is left is raw greed.
Jeff Bezos has a hole in his soul the size of the Pacific Ocean. I wouldn't be surprised if he ordered another multi billion dollar yacht because, of course, one is not enough. His girlfriend needs more lip filler so that her lips will extend from her chin to her eyelashes.
If we survive this catastrophic period, I hope people will wake up to the greatest heist in american history. The rich have plundered the middle class because of their insatiable greed that no amount of money can satisfy.
After calling Shumer's office this morning and leaving a message, I went radio silent and confined myself to reading Pope's (Alexander, not the papist) Homer (the Greek, not the cartoon.) I didn't even read this memo. In fact, I'm not actually here, this is just a hologram. And a hologram can't be prosecuted for hoping Shumer chokes to death on his pablum.
I thought Schumer’s argument was that it would be impossible to sue the administration over actions taken during the shutdown. What I don’t fully understand is why the strategy espoused by Merkley and Pelosi - a 30-day stopgap plan - wasn’t pursued.

Schumer is so unfit for leadership that it buggers the imagination.
I've written both my Senators explaining why I believe he must either step down or be taken down.

I'm reminded of the saying "you can't help people who won't help themselves".
People say it about addicts, drunks, abused spouses, ..... and nowadays the Democratic party.
For practical purposes the US has become a one party state.

I disagree.
I think Schumer et al made the right choice.
I am relieved they voted to let the GOP pass the CR.
I think Charlie Sikes has the right perspective.
My last sentence was redundant.
